Jump Run Manual
The Jump Run tool is used to review a proposed aircraft jump run, forecast winds aloft, cloud information, drift references, canopy range, and selected map landmarks.
Inputs and controls
| Input or control | Explanation |
| Latitude / Longitude | The selected drop zone, target, or map reference point used for the display. |
| Time | The forecast time used to request winds, clouds, and weather conditions. |
| Exit altitude | The planned aircraft exit altitude used to evaluate winds at and below planned exit. |
| Under canopy altitude | The altitude where the jumper is under canopy. This is not the parachute deployment altitude. |
| Glide ratio | The canopy glide value used to estimate still-air or wind-adjusted return range. |
| Descent rate | The canopy descent rate used with glide ratio and wind layers to estimate return range. |
| Back-by altitude | The altitude the user intends to reach the selected target by. |
| Jump run heading | The proposed aircraft track in degrees true. The display may also show a magnetic reference when available. |
| Groups | The number of groups used when displaying group exit spacing along the jump run. |
| Spot distance | Distance forward or back along the jump run used to adjust the relationship between the selected point and displayed exit reference. |
| Offset | Lateral adjustment left or right of the jump run used to review an offset spot. |
| Heat map / angle option | Displays colored planning overlays around the jump run and canopy return area when enabled. |
| High pull / hop n pop options | Adjusts the planning context for higher canopy altitudes or lower exit profiles when available. |
| Refresh forecast | Requests updated forecast data for the selected location and time. |
| Current conditions | Moves the forecast reference to current or near-current conditions when available. |
Outputs and display references
| Output | Explanation |
| Jump run line | The displayed aircraft track across the map. |
| Exit points | Estimated group exit locations based on selected heading and spacing assumptions. |
| Earliest / last exit | Reference distances that describe the displayed exit window relative to the selected point. |
| Freefall wind reference | A visual reference for forecast winds affecting the freefall or drift review portion. |
| Canopy wind reference | A visual reference for forecast winds affecting canopy flight planning. |
| Canopy range circle | An approximate range reference for returning under canopy using the selected canopy parameters. |
| Hazard / planning overlays | Colored areas that help compare the jump run, canopy return area, and nearby geographic landmarks. |
| Winds aloft panel | Forecast wind direction, speed, and temperature by altitude layer. |
| Cloud data | Forecast cloud information shown as a planning reference. |
| Jump conditions | Environmental reference values such as twilight or other available forecast-derived information. |
| Barometric altimeter error | The expected deviation of barometric altimeters from true altitude under the given environmental conditions. |
| Forecast time slider | Allows review of forecast changes across available time steps. |
